Trend

MACD

Gerald Appel · 1979

What it measures

A line drawn from the distance between the 12-day and 26-day exponential averages. Widening means the trend is gathering force; narrowing means it is running out.

How TickTurn reads it

We look at **both** whether the MACD line is above its signal line and whether it is above zero. Only when the two point the same way do we count that direction; when they disagree we withhold judgement and count neutral.

That judgement is made on closed daily bars only; a bar still in progress is left out, because including it makes the same symbol change its answer within the day. On the result screen this indicator holds one vote out of 21.

It is not an answer on its own

If one indicator could call tomorrow, everyone would use only that one. TickTurn asks 21 of them together not because any single one is trusted, but to show plainly where they disagree. Even the combined score, measured against the right baseline, came out only a shade better than chance — the scoring is written up in how we tested.

Up tomorrow, or down.

RSI, Ichimoku, Bollinger Bands, Fibonacci retracement — TickTurn puts the 21 chart-reading methods that have lasted 21 on one symbol at once, and gathers answers that were scattered across a dozen screens into one. Korean stocks, US stocks, crypto — one search each.

TickTurn reads the chart and lays it out. The decision to buy or sell is yours.

Nothing here is a recommendation to trade, and no return is guaranteed.
